What is your job title?
Senior Business Analyst
How did you get into this field?
One thing very much lead to another. I started out in IT support, moved into software testing and finally ended up in a role as a Business Analyst. It’s a role I really enjoy and suits my skill set.
Did you always know that this was what you wanted to do?
Absolutely not! I didn’t even know the job existed until 7 or 8 years ago…
What challenges have you faced in your role?
The biggest challenge has to be helping the clients to understand what it is that they actually want.
What advice would you give to women wanting to get into a STEM role?
Learn as much as you can, about all areas of the field not just your own speciality – adaptability and a broad view are huge assets. Speak up when you have an idea and ask questions – the more you speak, the more you’ll be listened to. Have confidence in yourself and don’t be put off by the obstacles that you may face.
